Yeah, Gracie dominated. But it's not just about the guys at the top. I was surprised that Numajiro (somebody I've never heard of and doesn't even have an English language Wikipedia page) beat Tamon Honda (a veteran worker in Japan). Then he got squashed by Gracie. Also surprised that Kintaro Kanemura (a jobber best known for his deathmatches) beat Scott Hall. And then Barry Buchanan (jobber in both the WWE and Japan) beat Kanemura. Then he gave Gracie a decent run for his money in the final match. So what's next? Hiroshi Tanahashi Mirko Cro Cop Masanobu Fuchi Donovan Morgan Don Frye Yoshihito Sasaki Masakatsu Funaki Tadao Yasuda Satoshi Kojima Mango Fukuda Masato Yoshino So many Japanese guys I've never heard of. Almost certainly of the job variety. But Don Frye and Mirko Cro Cop stand out as the likely victors. I put my money on Cro Cop. They're both MMA guys. It's a shame that the MMA guys are so dominant in this game. Even the jobber MMA guys are at least good. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The MMA guys should be good at MMA matches but not so much wrestling. As it stands, they're between good and excellent in the wrestling matches and totally dominant in MMA matches. |
