Also, buying a console for one game...I did it with Dreamcast for Fire Pro Wrestling D and I did it for Playstation 2 for Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. Actually, now that I think of it Playstation 2 was the last console I bought. I think. Yeah. That was in England. But surely it was an old console by the time I got it. When was this...maybe...2008? Let me check my emails.
Well, I got the game in 2008. From a guy in Hong Kong. $30 plus $10 postage. That's not bad. I paid in pounds, presumably. But no email for the PS2.
Oh, here it is. Ooh, I also bought Fire Pro Wrestling Z at around the same time. That was from a guy in Japan for $20 plus mystery shipping costs. Yeah, it's coming back to me. It wasn't a very good copy. I think that they sell the crap that he sold the crap that he can't sell in Japan to the non-Asian market because somebody else complained about this too.
But yeah, holy crap, £46 for the PS2 with 2 controllers, memory card, and five games. Can't beat that. That includes shipping. It was from a woman in England. And yeah, 2008.
So...the PS3 was surely out by then. Yeah, PS2 was released in 2000. Discontinued in 2013. PS3 was released in 2007. So actually the PS2 was still a viable system at the time.
Anyway, how much is a Wii U. £250 if I get the Mario Maker version which isn't actually anything special. Just includes a little figurine and a digitial download version of the game.
Is that really the best price? I'm on Amazon. Want the 32gb version. Yeah, pretty much.
£250 is a lot money to spend on playing Super Mario Bros. Plus I'd have to buy a tv. Is there any other cool shit you can do with it? Hmm...not really. Any other cool games? "12 must have Wii U games"...
Super Mario 3d World. Never liked the 3d platformers Mario or otherwise.
Super Smash Bros. Yeah, I liked that on Gamecube. Even single player.
Legend of Zelda. Never got into that.
Splatoon. I saw some videos of that and it didn't interest me.
Little Inferno. Never heard of this. From the makers of World of Goo? I did like that game. Just watched a video of two homos playing the game. Maybe it's the homos but it didn't really interest me. Does remind me of World of Good but I don't think I'd spend money on that.
Bayonetta 2. Never heard of this either. Let me watch a video. Yeah, I'm not interested in that shit. I don't even know what kind of game it is and I'm not interested. Stuff was happening, fighting, I don't know. Not interested.
Nintendo Land. Another one that passed me by. Check out a video. Looks like...maybe...Mario Party but based on old Nintendo games. Best played with others. So this doesn't do it for me either.
Pikmin 3. Not really familiar. Some kind of real time strategy game from what I can see. I don't like those games.
Rayman Legends. Looks like a 2d platformer. I know that I'm considering spending a lot of money just to play Super Mario Bros (which of course is a 2d platformer) but I don't really like the genre. So I'll pass on Rayman Legends.
Mario Kart 8. Mmm...I don't know. Never really got into Mario Kart. They're okay. The ones I played. Don't know about the eighth installment in the series. Maybe I'd buy it if I bought the console. I'd have to look into it more.
Wonderful 101. Never heard of this. Just watched a video and don't really know what's going on. Don't like those sorts of games. If a bunch of crazy shit is going on and I can't even figure out who the character being controlled is, it's not for me.
ZombiU. Almost certainly not for me. It's going to be a zombie first or third person shooting game I just know it. Yeah, I don't want this.
AND THAT'S IT! No way. What about...I thought there was another Mario game like...New Super Mario. And New Super Luigi. I'd be interested in those. I have them for the...I don't know...some portable Nintendo system that I never play.
I wonder if I even still have that. Oh. Nintendo DS, I think. I don't remember seeing it when I was packing. Or did I? Maybe.
So...yeah, I think I can do without a Wii U. Let me check the full list of games. Maybe something will jump out at me.
There's an Animal Crossing coming out but it will require Amiibos. Fuck that.
A Donkey Kong Country. I enjoyed those on the SNES or whatever it was. Wasn't shitting myself with excitement, though.
There's a Harvest Moon coming up. Eh...I played it on Gamecube and it was alright but even 13 years ago I didn't devote much time into it. How much less so now?
Mario Party 8 and 10. Not sure where 9 went. Yeah, they're alright but best with other players. Maybe you can play online but I doubt there's a huge community for 8 since 10 is out. And 10 was released just a year after 8. I don't like that stuff.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I played a few of these. Strategy game based in China. But I downloaded the recent Nobunga's Ambition or whatever which is a similar game by the same company but based in feudal Japan and...I played it once. Maybe twice. Not fun. I don't know why I played it back in it's SNES rom version. So I'll give it a miss. Plus it might not even have been released in Europe.
Scribblenauts interested me but...not hugely.
Not even any crap WWE games. That's surprising.
So...yeah, I don't need it. Like £500 to play Super Mario Maker, Smash Bros, and maybe three other Super Mario games? Not a good use of my hard earned money. And I wouldn't play it much. I'd be done with it in a couple months tops.
