She'll just come back under a different name and write some cryptic one sentence bullshit. I guess that the idea is trying to look like the most intelligent person in the proverbial room. "This message is so clever. only I'll get it." But that doesn't work if your message is incomprehensible due to it being total nonsense. I mean, anyone can write zany shit that doesn't make any sense but few sane people do so.
It's a novel approach to message boarding. I view foruming as a good way to engage in the free exchange of ideas. Not everybody shares this view.
To me, it's baffling. What's the point of a forum if not to engage in some form of intellectual discourse? I'm not saying that we have to discuss philosophy and quantum physics but there has to be something. There has to be a structure to the message.
Is this an unrealistic standard? I don't think so. All I'm saying is that the message has to be about something. That's hardly a high hurdle to pass.
But you get these avant garde cretins who think it's somehow progressive and intellectual to write utter nonsense. And it's not just "M". There's this asshole called Richard Doyle who also engages in this shit. Even Slann. Tell me an intersting Slann message that you've ever read. Tell me a Slann message that even MADE SENSE.
I've just given you the names of half of the people who have used this forum in the past two years. Half of the people on this forum write shit that doesn't make any sense, isn't interesting, and has absolutely no message.
Why? Why refuse to engage in discourse with your fellow man? Why sit in your parents' hovel and write nonsense on an internet message board? It's bizarre.
I was looking on Forever Delayed for "nigel". I couldn't find anything for "mcmurphy" but I think there are hidden sub-forums for registered users.
Anyway, I found a message where a guy didn't like me posting on StayBeautiful (or whatever the forum was) because it always degenerated into a fight between me and everyone else on the forum.
That's an accurate description of most every forum I've ever been on. But I don't seek to cause anyone distress. I have an opinion and I express it. My writing style is engaging and my thoughts and opinions are well-reasoned. That's why people respond. And I've never tried to shut anyone down. They're free to agree or disagree. I read all messages, take everything on board, and continue the discussion, if I deem it worthwhile.
In today's world, that makes one a "troll". Anyone who disagrees with the majority is a "troll".
And you know who the majority is? People like this guy who was complaining about me. I didn't recognise this guy's name. I don't know anything about him. I can assure you that he never wrote anything even remotely interesting in his life.
He wanted to ask people what they had for breakfast. He wanted people to know that his favourite song is Motown Junk. He had no interest in talking about himself in any serious way. He didn't want to talk about recent events in his life. He didn't want to talk about his opinions on semi-interesting topics. His pièce de résistance was the banality of life.
When I was a kid, there was a cartoon called The Get Along Gang. It only lasted a year. But it was an insidious piece of propaganda. It was about a group of anthropomorphic animals who would chastise other members of the group whenever a dissenting opinion was raised. The whole moral of the show, as evidenced by its title, was to "get along" with everyone. Fall into line and just blindly agree with everyone else or risk the group's wrath.
What a terrible message to send to kids. And this from the country which prides itself on individual liberty and the sovereignty of man. I'd expect such a cartoon to come from the heart of Red China.
But this is the mentality of your average person. This is why the average person gets up every day, goes to work, and has no interest in improving his lot in life. The average person lacks any sort of ambition.
And when this average person, who's similar in many ways to some kind of farm animal, encounters somebody with the slightest spark of humanity, somebody with modicum of wit and intelligence, they get scared.
I'm not even a particularly intelligent person. I was a poor student. My social skills are terrible. But even this is alarming for these forum dullards.
It's an interesting phenomenon but trying to talk about it with doofuses on the internet is an exercise in futility. It's like trying to have a conversation with your dog.
