I'm using an easier recipe though. Slow cooker. Take all of the ingredients and put it in the pot. No problem.
So I went to Tesco to get the ingredients. Amazingly, they had "cajun spice". I was all set to buy all of the individual spices required to make said spice. But great, they had cajun spice.
Also, the recipe calls for chicken thighs. The closest thing I saw was a package of chicken thighs and chicken drumsticks. So I went with it.
They had all of the other ingredients too. It's just some vegetables, a sausage, rice, can of tomatoes, and chicken broth.
So I get home and open up this chicken. The recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken. This was neither.
So I got out my crappy steak knife. It's the only even moderately sharp knife that I have.
Holy shit. Disgusting, frustrating, and took an enormous amout of time. Now I know why that big package of chicken was only £1.75. It was 750 grams but I probably threw away 500 grams if not more.
It was otherwise uneventful. I thought this slow cooker pot would be almost overflowing but no, it's only half full. Of course, I'm using half as much chicken (at the most) and half as much sausage as the recipe called for but still, I don't think it would add much even if I had the full amount.
See how it goes. It will take six hours to cook. If it turns out halfway decent, I can see doing it again but only with skinless, boneless chicken. And surprisingly, they had a decent sausage at this Tesco. It was in the Polish section. I was afraid that I'd have to use dried sausage. I just didn't look at the weight. I should have gotten two.
But yeah, it's easy other than the chicken issue.
