Now, I'm a big Lanny Poffo fan. I'm also a pretty big wrestling podcast fan. But the first episode was so bad that I couldn't get through it. His co-host was awful. It's a guy who used to be a teacher, lived in Chicago, now lives in London.
"So what does this guy know about wrestling or podcasts?"
Nothing. He admits as much. He implores the listener to give him a chance. He's learning.
I can appreciate that. We all start somewhere. But I oculdn't get through the first episode.
There's an exchange between him and Lanny about the Olive Garden. They go back and forth a few times about said restaurant chain. Lanny (an Italian-American) makes an offhand remark that it's not a real Italian restaurant. This co-host says that it's pretty good. Lanny repeats his dislike of the eatery. His co-host says something like, "I'll fight anyone who disses the Olive Garden". Lanny, clearly annoyed at this extended exchange, says, "Okay, well, maybe on our next episode" and then continues the story he was trying to tell.
I don't know how long this co-host has been living in the UK but Olive Garden has zero locations in this country. What does he care about the Olive Garden? His Olive Garden information may be ridiculously outdated.
After the third similar awkward exchange, I had to turn the thing off. I know that he's just trying to contribute, I know that he's nervous, I know that he's new, but I can't listen to this. This shit could have been edited out. It's not like it's live. He thought that this was good shit to include. "They're going to love this Olive Garden exchange!"
I'm going to try the latest episode. It's two months after the first episode. Maybe Lanny got rid of this guy or maybe he got better.
It reminds me of the Bite the Mic podcast with Mike Tyson. How can you go wrong? Mike Tyson is known for saying wacky shit.
Oh, they got it wrong. Some Jew nobody with no connection to boxing is the co-host. It's awful. He's awful and Tyson is awful. They did a few episodes, took a four month break, tried again for a few episodes, and there hasn't been a new one in over six months. Let's hope that it's done.
