Block Exemption Servicing Under Warranty

Hi does any one know I understand there are some loopholes the manufacturers are using i.e. Renault stipulate that a certain service has to be carried out by them under the warranty period. Apparently if this is not done they will invalidate the manufacturers warranty. Also we had a Seat in for servicing which the customer bought second hand and had trouble making a claim under warranty in the past. We diagnosed an alternator when servicing and when she contacted the local dealer they in as many words told her to get lost. Does any one have any clearer picture of where we stand as independents I expect if it comes to the crunch and a large warranty claim needs to be made I expect that some legal bod is going to say you are the professional and you should know the law and are liable to cover any warranty expenses. Better to be forearmed and forewarned before the event! John Kennard.
