So who are PRS then? I thought that having their licence entitled the holder to play the radio. How many licences do you have to buy!

The people taking this unfortunate victim to court are PPL Ltd. A private company! Can I set up a company that 'looks after the interests of performer's rights' and go round taking anyone to court that doesn't have my authorisation? Even though no-one's ever heard of me!!

What a brilliant way of making money!

I think the only solution to this is to personally approach an individual artist and ask if they'd mind if you played their music (and no-one else's) in your establishment.
