I ahd to get a customer a duplicate the other day & when it was printed they also printed the advisory that was issued with it, so clearly all the advisory notes are saved with the test details.
As far as the legalities of driving a vehicle after a test I am sure that although the current certificate may not have expired to drive after a failure is an offence as the driver will drive the vehicle knowingly in an unroadworthy manner. This is according to a legal friend a more serious offence than driving without an MOT.
As far As I understand the MOT cert remains valid until its expiry date or until such time as the vehicle receives a prohibition notice PG9 , which may be immediate or delayed by 10 days, which states that the prohibition will stay in force until it is cleared by either full or part inspection.
We have heard of a number of cars being issued with PG9's locally by VOSA inspectors at roadside checkpoints & one where the police stopped a car & either called a VOSA inspector or ordered car to VOSA centre where it was issued with an immediate prohibition & its occupants had to get a taxi home!!!
