The official answer was "the government doesn't want to put any more cost burden on the consumer".
So you can be safe if you can afford it.
So its now buyer beware. Your warning lamps may not be telling you the truth.
Lets face it TPTB want us all to drive new cars, and they are chipping away to get the results they want.
Soon diesel will be condemned (as bad - child killer) so mr consumer will be sold into "new child friendly, butterfly friendly" small capacity turbo petrol engines.
