We’ve got a 2001 VW Passat DTI in the workshop waiting for the insurance man to look at. The vehicle went through a Ford took in water and did hydraulic the motor.
Front end of the vehicle off, head off showing pistons at different levels. The insurance man wants us to remove the block remove the crank, rods and pistons etc. Have the head, block and crank checked by an engineering company ( There’s non I could suggest in the Newcastle area anymore I’m sad to say) then rebuild as necessary.
I disagreed and said it needs a motor or take it elsewhere. I’m not prepared to have problems for the sake of your insurance company.
He was aghast! I’ll have to have a contribution from the owner…..Well get it! I’ll have to get back to you. Am I being unreasonable or would you guys just do as he suggested.
I personally would much rather have a complete motor and not worry about after problems??
