Many viruses nowadays modify a file in a Windows subdirectoy called "Hosts".

This modification blocks access to the better known security related websites preventing you from seeking advise/updates etc.

    This is easy to solve.

    1)Do a search for "Hosts"
    2) as always you will get lots of hits but look at the ones in Windows\system32\drivers\etc

    3) Open the one called Hosts using notepad, If you have the right one you will see a list of web addresses featuring anti-virus companys.

    4) Delete them!

    5) now you should be able to acces your relevent antivirus website for updates.
