Can't believe the owner was in business on his own before, then suddenly out of the blue decides to double the size of the garage & take on 5 new people. I think they are all a setup, and he, like the others, have just taken the money & gone over there. Still, whose the idiots here, got to be the TV programme makers, I imagine that they are all being paid hansomely to go over there & do it. Can't wait for the next episode, just so I can say I missed it. Silly rant over now!! Regards, Rob.

Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel
Posted by Rob Drinkwater on January 18, 2006, 9:52 pm, in reply to "Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel" As regards the radio presenter thing, well that's a little strange, unless they talk about 'The Garage' on their local radio, like the Radio in the UK talk about big brother all the time (Yawn). So the radio ststion there could have something to do with the production, and possibly even the fact that the venue was switched from the UK to Spain in the first place. 'Jock's' Website claims he has been going since 1987. That would mean that his 12 year old daughter wasn't even born when he started there, yet she has a broad Scot's accent as well, kinda strange for a girl born & bred in Marbella, must be cacooned with Scot's people, so she never hears the Spanish ligo or hint of an accent. Anyone would think that she moved there about the middle of last year! The plot doesn't seem to be thickening, it seems to be falling apart! Regards, Rob.

Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel
Posted by Andrew Steer on January 23, 2006, 8:50 am, in reply to "Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel" Ohh you cynics out there!! "The Garage" is produced by Endemol, who do make Big Brother. When you see the show, his original garage is the one on the right and the one on the left is used for filming most of the show. His business, like any one of yours, has to make an ongoing living, as, believe it or not, I don't think he was actually paid anything to make the show. As for the glamorous technician(s), they are all real mechanics (one of which worked for another client of ours), except for the apprentice, who is ............ an apprentice!!! She just happens to be a very good looking one, for obvious reasons (its a TV show...)!! The original mechanics are all still there, but they needed to recruit new ones to fill up the new part of the garage. The expansion of his business was happening anyway, he has been very successeful, but obviously the show producers wanted to add some "spice". Lets face it, if you watch MTV's "Pimp my ride" or "Chopper Squad " (sic) they are a lot further from reality than Jock's place! What else can I tell you??? Oh, I went there in September to train them all, cough, cough, on a range of obscure diagnostic equipment.....just can't remember now what it was called....... English Mobile Mechanics has been a client of ours for about three years now and Jock is as funny and personable a guy as you would ever wish to meet. As for the show, I laughed my head off at the first one and look forward to the rest. I suppose you could try and take it for what it is... entertainment! All the best Andrew

Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel
Posted by Andrew Steer on January 23, 2006, 8:48 pm, in reply to "Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel" I can't tell you what a horrible gig it was.... It was extremely difficult to concentrate with those ti... cameras being thrust into my face. The second day I could hardly walk, something to do with going to bed with...at 4 a.m....I think, not that I remember much. Ah, its a tough life on the road... As for filming of MOI, darling...they could not provide a big enough Winnebago, so I told them to talk to my agent. These cheap TV companies have no idea of how to deal with the BIG stars Cheers Andrew

Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel
Posted by Michael Whitworth on January 24, 2006, 9:46 pm, in reply to "Re: The Garage - Discovery Channel" I was driving down the M6 on Saturday morning listening to Radio 2 with Jonofon Woss. He was interviewing Dale Winton who claimed he was a keen Petrol head and would like to do his own car show. And regularly chewed the fat with Jeremy Clarkson!! Ross asked him if he knew how to change a spark plug. Winton replied "Of course but these days cars don't have spark plugs" "Oh really" said Ross "I never knew that, What do they have instead cos they must still need something to make the petrol burn" "that's right" said Winton "They are called 'Fuel Injectors'". May I take this opportunity to apologise to the driver of the black BMW who I nearly shoved into the central barrier when I lost control of my vehicle in my amazement at the trash Dale Winton was sprouting I wonder how many punters listening to that will now believe the faithful spark plug is redundant.
