Support for the Great North Run
Posted by Sean Connelly on September 24, 2007, 12:36 am My partner Louise & I will be taking part in our 7th consecutive Great North Run (half marathon) this coming Sunday up in Newcastle. We have over the past 6 years raised money for cancer charities. However, this year we will be raising money for The Stroke Association in memory of my Dad who died last November following a stroke. Its always a fantastic day and the support from crowds and the fellow runners is amazing. I'm sure it will be an extra special day for me this year. If you would like to help The Stroke Association by sponsoring us for this event then we would be very grateful. This can all be done online on our page on the JustGiving website, click on the link below to get there. It includes some details on strokes and the work of The Stroke Association. For all UK tax payers who use this site, then the charity are able to get an extra 28% from the goverment. Thank you in advance to everyone who sponsors us. And thanks for taking the time to read this post. Kind regards Sean.

Re: Support for the Great North Run
Posted by We did it.......and Thank you on October 1, 2007, 9:28 pm, in reply to "Re: Support for the Great North Run" Louise managed to improve on her time from last year by 3 minutes doing it in 2 hours 13 minutes 56 seconds. I ran it in in 2 hours 1 minute 17 seconds, which was about 20 seconds quicker than last year. I would have liked to have done it in under 2 hours, but the warm temperature and a fast start took the energy out of my legs and the last mile seemed to take forever! Though at least there is still room for improvement.... It was a great day and knowing that if we got to the finish in time, we would see the Red Arrows display. Best of all though, was knowing that we will have raised over £550 for The Stroke Association and which the taxman will also donate another 28% on top of that. A big thanks to Mike, David, Dai and Harry for your kind support, we are both very, very grateful. We have updated our webpage on the JustGiving website with a picture taken after the run back at the B&B showing us with our medals. Note the picture was taken sevral hours afterwards and therefore my head is not red due to the exertion but the fact that the sun was shinning way too much! Regards Sean & Louise

Posted by John Wallis on October 1, 2007, 10:39 pm, in reply to "Re: Support for the Great North Run" Maybe next year UKAT could put a team in and raise some money for a worthy cause. Peter Warman could dress up as a Snap on Scanner with a web cam on his head, Andrew Ruellan could dress up as a rich person from Jersey (Normal atire) and Andy Evans could dress up as a green KTS... AND Tony Sefton as a Snap on Trolly. Oh and Alan Kane could go as a secret agent I'll put you all up for the weekend in my mansion FOC.....Now there's a challenge for you.

Posted by Sean Connelly on October 3, 2007, 9:01 am, in reply to "Re: Support for the Great North Run" It is an amazing day.....the crowds are a fantastic support when your trying to get through the last few miles. The weather is always amazing on the day as well....almost gauranteed sunshine for the last 7 years! I may well do it in fancy dress...probably the last year that I do it, still want to try and get a PB first though. Cheers Sean
