Snap-on Service #

need to get this off my chest.
32 months ago i invested in £25000 in mot equipment from snap-on/sun.after a couple of months the dga2500 was having problems,eventually sorted out,wrong programme fitted.
1st time they calibrated the brake tester & emission tester,ok,i aked the engineer about the headlight tester,"is it one of ours then"
it all came from snap-on,after a phone call he did check it.
took us 2 yrs for them to get the calibration for the brake tester, emission & beam setter all on the same agreement,cost £1100.
i've invested in bore-scope tool £200.
very recently got a solus-pro £1400.
booked for 2 to go on solus course £228.
my brake tested broke on monday,phoned service dept,"we'll contact the engineer,by the way it's £115.00 call out + parts + labour".
had to chase them up today(weds)he fixed it in 10 mins,spring broken & was jamming a roller.
so much for loyalty!!

Fortunately the guys who installed our mot bay told us about the spring problem which is due to lack of grease. We still had to do it ourselves afterwards. Our brake tester had class 7 software on a class four bay and they wouldn't believe us despite having readings of 600kg per wheel on a citroen ZX! That's what happens when reputable firms farm stuff out to the lowest bidder.

If it's any use to anyone, we bought a bosch emissions tester from Joe at Celtech and the after sales has been brilliant.

Yeah I'm gonna gonna go the bosch emissions tester the next time I get the hump with our DGA2500 & push it in the river.

4yrs old had new gas bench at 2.5 yrs 1 grand,three diesel smoke head motors ,so much trouble getting printers to work as it was on windows 98

now updated to XP they only want 500 quid plus call out for that one,god knows how many o2 cell codes,general crapness & grief all round every morning you turn it on you wonder if it'll make the day.

Oh & don't forget the update discs every yr which are an absolute steal

Bosch the way to go, i threw my crypton in the river last year, four years old never knowing if it was going to work. Pages and bosch brilliant service, phoned up and delivered and commisioned on same day to get me out of the poo. I think a good relationship with rep helped out that day, excellent service.

Good old Snap on (or sun, a totally different company, as my Snap on dealer keeps telling me even though it says Snap on on the machine and he arranged the sale).
I bought one of thier new DGA2500 gas analysers in July 2007, had the engineer out countless times to fix an intermittent fault which " could'nt be happening " although all there adverts show the machine doing what I was complaining about!!!! Various engineers came out changing the same parts and telling me they were faulty (EVEN THOUGH FITTED LESS THAN A WEEK BEFORE). Eventually I got fed up with the amount of MoTs I was cancelling and had to threaten legal action to be given a replacement machine which was delivered in January 2008. The cancelled MoT tests cost me a fortune.

Bought the machine on a two year deal which included all cals and updates. I Kept receiving bills for cals etc and kept phoning them explaining the deal until recently when they refused point blank to carry out cals due to unpaid invoices. Fine I said lets wait until I cannot test and I will charge you £45 per hour until we get to court and sort this out once and for all. After various phone calls and a meeting between staff I was credited for all the outstanding invoices but not even an attempt at an apology.

I recently changed banks and the new bank transfered all my direct debits over. I received a phone call from Snap on finance to tell me that my direct debit had been cancelled and I needed to fill out a new form and send them a cheque which I did on receipt of the form.
On 5th February I received a call from them saying they had received the cheque but no form even though they were sent in the same envelope. They told me I must fill out another form and send another cheque or pay default charges. On friday 6th February while I was at the bank sorting out why my d/d had not been set up Snap on finance phoned to say that the account number I had put on the form they didn't receive was incorrect!
While at the bank I was given paperwork showing that the d/d hed been set up and acknowledged by Sanp on finance on 5th December but THEY had cancelled it on 12th December.
I received the new form today.
I will NEVER buy from them again. Beware all those that consider buying from the great Snap on.

Regarding Joe at Celtec - great man served me well in the past.

hi all

just received my annual calibration fee for my snap-on emission tester & smoke tester,has risen by 17.5% since last year,why do i feel my hands are tied behind my back,and they are squeezing my b***s and there is nothing i can do!
phoned up to question this & they have offered 10% discount if i pay for this calibration & service agreement for the brake tester & beam setter in one payment by credit card,or 5% if i carry on by direct debit.
wouldn't recommend this equipment to anyone!
area manager,who i have never met,phoned me a few weeks ago,asking about the service i was getting,had heard about me moaning(from rep),he was going to get some one to contact me,still waiting!
sorry for going on,but not a happy monday!!!!

I've had the same service which stems from the sales rep for the area Steve Baker forging my signature on an order for a DGA 2500 Kombi machine.
My first point of contact was with my Snap on tool representative who visits most weeks, I said that I was interested in a blue tooth version of the DGA which at the time had not been released on the market because they were still perfecting the Bluetooth Diesel head..
The Snapon tool rep knew that if the machine done what it said on the label I would by it, so he didn’t pursue the enquiry until the machine was released with Bluetooth.
He arranged for the sales rep Steve Baker to visit me and I said I would like to try the machine on the premises and if the Bluetooth Diesel head worked I would be interested.
Steve Baker said that I could have a machine on demo to test.
When the machine arrived I was surprised to see a new machine as it was only on demo, I commented to my tool rep.
The machine was excellent and exactly what I wanted but I had no contact from Steve Baker and was surprised when I had an invoice for the machine.
The machine had been invoiced before I had received the supposed demo machine and I was being chased for payment.
I paid for the machine three months after delivery of the demo machine which I still have.
The machine was negotiated with a two year no cost warranty
Updates and calibrations.
After a year from the delivery of the demo machine I am having problems with what was said by Steve Baker and what Snap On think Steve Baker said.
My last problem was if I didn’t pay for the Vosa update (within the two year period) I would not get the machine calibrated, so after talking to Phil Nassua who I believe pulls some weight in the company I agreed to pay for the update and the company (Snap on) would pay for the next calibration.
A week later I have a bill for the calibration.
I demonstrated the machine to a good customer of ours who we do machining for he purchased a machine and is having the same sort of problems.

I have a Solus Pro and would like to keep it up to date with the software releases but Snap On want me to do it on direct debit

Would you trust these people?

Hi Guys
Had enough now with Snap on.
Been accused of being a liar and now a bad payer -all because Snapon finance cancelled my direct debit and then couldn't find the new direct debit form in the same envelope as the cheque that they could find ??
This so called "top of the range" equipment (oh by the way this is the second one I've had) has cost me a fortune in lost earnings, a fortune in lost time phoning and arguing with people and god knows how much stress!
My rep wants me to by a Verus - I don't think so !

Does anyone have the name of the top person in Snapon UK so I can let him know what wonderfull equipment his company supplies.
