I know this has been discussed before, but are there people still having problems with Warranty procedures with parts purchased from VAG TPS?

We have issues with TPS warranty each time we attempt to return a defective component. The usual procedure is to attempt to return the component, TPS refuse to warrant it & advise you take it to a dealer. The dealer is contacted & they refuse to look at it, TPS are contacted & they refuse to get involved with the dealer. We stamp our feet & make ourselves a nuisance & the component is replaced without any supporting documentation. Pathetic way in which to deal with good customers.
Hi Michael, A little off topic but I recently had a new engine ECU for a A3 that had been previously fitted and coded, I got round it with help from AL but obviously complained to our Scunny branch manager she asked me to invoice them and "see how it goes?!" I have invoiced for a hours labour (£44+vat) I will let you know the outcome... Rob
I can only speak from experience and its been all good with TPS (Peterborough) an abs valve body was supplied faulty and exchanged next day. could possibly be down to the branch manager, I have also had a similar good experience with Andrew page in Boston and cant really fault their service. chris

Yes and because of this I've stopped using them as their warrenty procedure is quite simply 'nothing to do with us, *uck off to the dealer'
I have just had a failed xenon Ballast unit on a Skoda Octavia, The Item is 7 months old and has just stopped working, This car has previously had a new bulb and power pack on the back of the bulb by another garage, We Swapped the units over from side to side and the fault transfered to the other side and the other balast unit works fine in this side. We checked closely for water damage etc and couldn't see a reason for failure.
I rang T.P.S and got told that there was no way that they could swap any electronic items that cost over £50 without the vehicle going to the Main Skoda Dealer ( about 10 miles away )
The Dealer couldn't get the car in for about a week leaving my customer without a car, We had got the bumper off and the headlights out so had to put it all back together again so that it could be driven to the Dealer for them to Strip it all back down again.
All I wanted was the Component swapping under warranty and I even suggested buying a new unit whilst the faulty one was sent back for testing / evaluating. ( like used to happen years ago ) I Didn't try claiming any labour but I only charged an Hours labour to fit it in the first place.
Thinking about it, If They Accept the warranty claim, Shouldn't they then be liable to pay my labour for checking it out too. ?? As I have to check it and prove its faulty before I try to get it swapped or sent to the Dealer for the Claim to be accepted. ?
I Even rang the Person in charge of our Local T.P.S but got no joy.
The Car is now booked in to the Skoda Dealer and i will post the results when it gets sorted.
Will it get sorted FOC under warranty. ?? Will they make up some bullsh?t reason for the failure. ?? Or Will they find a genuine reason for failure. ??
The Only glimmer of hope that they could give me is that the Situation is under review and the £50 limit is being looked into but she couldn't say when or what the results would be.
So Now when ordering parts, Anything that costs more than £50, I will be buying from anywhere possible rather than T.P.S but it will be difficult getting a lot of Electronic parts anywhere other than the T.P.S or the Main Dealer.
Pity they didn't leave the Parts Distributrion to the Main Dealers as we Never had any problems with them.
This is the First component failure i have had in the 5 years that i have been dealing with T.P.S so you would think that they would use reasonable discretion in these situations. but obviously Adolf is pulling the strings and they have to Obey. ??
I've never had any problems with TPS in Leeds in fact quite the opposite. I had a customer that needed a new Torq converter TPS quoted for the part and I quoted customer. When the part came it was a flywheel in the box. I rang TPS and they had mistakenly quoted on the Flywheel not the Torq Converter. As this part was almost four times the price the customer could not afford it and asked us to rebuild. TPS paid all our Labour without any problems what so ever.
This was about two years ago, don't know if they would do it now.

Phewwwwww. Claim Accepted and vehicle repaired FOC after sending a copy of the original invoice to the Skoda Dealer.
Still very annoying but at least its fixed and if it goes wrong again, I will have nothing to do with it, They can take all responsibility for any future failure as they have now checked it and they were the last people to work on it.
now, I wonder if I should ring the manageress and see how much they owe me, as they have now admitted selling me a faulty component that I had to check out and condemn before I could attempt to get it swapped under warranty. ???

Hi,
This took a little longer than it should of as our Scunthorpe branch manager had been on holiday they then needed a copy of the invoice but nevertheless paid, as credit received in the post today.
As Chris says of Andrew Page we to have found them very good with credits plus they will pay a submitted labour claim with accompanying faulty part
