I had one of these in during the week, the good news is the chain has not slipped yet but is rattling a bit when the car is cold, |
The customer can afford to pay for a timing chain kit and the labour for fitting it,
The only thing is! I cant guarantee if the crank shaft pulley will be ok when i will rip it,
This pulley is part of the crank shaft and if its worn it means a new crank!!so head off, new head set, piston rings, bearings etc. etc. and i won't know if its ok until the engine is out and all the covers off the back of the engine,
Its a hell of a lot of work to find out,
Have any one of you lads taken on a job like this?and if so was this pulley worn? When the customer don't have the funds to complete the job i am a bit reluctant to go near it unless i knew there was a good chance the pulley will be ok when il rip it out,
