As you will now know Martin has had this before (spark plugs not taken out for machining) as have i, a lesson learn about 30 year,s ago in my case (being an old GIT 
).
I did not know you where a charity , trying to save the customer money!!! as i tell my customer,s I charge enough to be here next year (hopefully 
) and still be able to deal with their problem
