(Damn, hit wrong button!)

Owner bought zafira with blown engine (Z16XE) but fitted an X16XEL off e-blag. (He claimes that a Vauxhall tech said it would be OK!)

Not surprisingly it doesnt work too well!

The problem is that the CPS on the Z16XE is in the block near the flywheel but on the X16XEL it is at the crank pully end.

The wire doesnt reach and, in any case, the CPS is missing from the "New" engine.

Now, Heres the "Folorne Hope" bit...

Does anybody know if fitting a new CPS and extending the wires to fit will work??

(IE will the ECU accept the signal from the crank pully end or will the phasing be all wrong)

The ECU is numbererd 09364492

If nobody has the definitive awnser I will just try it (the bits arent expensive), if it doesnt work he will have to get another (correct) engine I guess. He is sort of resigned to this, but it would be nice to get this one running!
