Have got this mini in with a non start problem.
Vehicle doesn't crank nor bump start .
Fuel pump runs etc when ignition switched on and all dash lights work etc. We have comms and we retrieve P1661 in engine ecu EWS Timed out which we think is the immobolizer not being switched. Tried the spare key and new ignition switch with no luck.
Is there any way of testing the key reader around the barrel? Any other known issues with these motors ? Struggling to find any reliable test info. The immobolizer ecu doesnt appear to be near the steering column as suggested by AD.
Have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery too.
