Hi all, this Fiat Brava when started from cold runs excessively fast, 3-4,000 rpm but does come down to normal idle when fully warmed up. On initial code reading it had fault codes “P1511 Idle speed regulation potentiometer”, “P0120 Throttle position sensor- circuit malfunction” and “P1513 idle speed regulation”, all of these were marked intermittent, and after clearing did not return on two separate roadtests but could be due to the fact that another garage had tried a secondhand throttle body which did not improve matters. Live data is all good on throttle idle settings etc etc, I have checked the archives and it appears to be fairly common for a couple of reasons, car has recently had a new CTS, which is reading ok, I tried giving the loom a good tug in case there was wiring problems with no effect, when you drive the car and release the throttle pedal it will hang on to the revs at 1400 until you stop but very often will stick at 2000 rpm but returns to normal when you come to a stop(obviously the VSS is influencing this as it wont do this off load) , it has not put in any new fault codes and apart form this it runs well, no black smoke or any other starting or running problems. It does have the correct resistor spark plugs, and the battery has not gone flat as someone did say in the archives that adaptation may be needed, I wondered if any one had experienced this or can suggest the next course of action, thanks, Jim.
