I've done a few of these now and have never removed sump, just silcon the gasket/timing case gasket on re-fitting and all should be good.

I always replace the rear timing cover gasket and the crankshaft oil seal whilst its all removed.

i did have 1 problem though with a non genuine kit, (FEBI) so i'd use a genuine.
