Thanks for the replies and sorry to take so long to update, (trying to clear the workshop for the festive break).
I recommended a genuine new cat to the customer but he had already got an after market one and told me to fit it.The scope readings were just the same. However i road tested the car for 80 miles over three days and the code did not return. I checked eobd pending codes and if all monitors had been passed and they had so i handed the car back.I am now told the light has come back on and i will have it back in the new year.I will post an update then. In the meantime happy Christmas and a great new year to you all.
