Finished checking out throttle body, pedal and map sensor circuits, some discrepancies but nothing of note except the one on the throttle body potentiometer, but didn't think that could be the problem because it ran so well when the map was disconnected.
So decided to check out the oxygen sensor and found a very low resistance at the heater circuit and an open circuit at the calibration resistor. Haven't got much faith in resistance tests but an open circuit is pretty decisive so changed the o2 sensor and now runs sweet as a nut. Still got no idea why it didn't set a fault code but haven't had much to do with broadband sensors before. Thanks for help and suggestions
