Would be an idea then to see what the inlet manifold vacuum is which could indicate a mechanical fault as you have indicated. Unless I am very much mistaken, fuel pressure should be constant throughout the rev range. I assume you have checked the fuel filter. If you have a gas analyser, high HC readings could indicate a mechanical fault.
Off to Turkey to pleasure myself on the beach in the sun tomorrow
so unable to contribute further until I get back in 10 days time....Hope to see a "fix" on my return.
