( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autocom + ACR4 G2
( Optional) Fault Codes: PO3014-Motorised Throttle Body Fault
I would be grateful for guidance on this vehicle.
HISTORY: I was called into a local garage to have a look at this vehicle. The problem it has is hunting at idle whereupon the revs pulses to about 1400 RPM. The garage pulled a fault code relating to the Motorised Throttle Body and replaced it with a second hand unit. The fault remains with the same fault code. I am told the vehicle drives OK apart from this.
FINDINGS: The fault code will clear but will re-appear immediately without starting the vehicle. The TPS rises rhythmically from 0.84v to 1,53 at idle with the subsequent hunting. The throttle shows reaction from idle to "mid" when operating the accelerator pedal. I have checked for air-leaks and all is fine. The throttle body looks reasonably clean inside but will be cleaned again tomorrow.
QUESTIONS: Does the replacement throttle body require adaptations? My subsequent research has shown that ingress of moisture via the ECT wiring to the ECU can cause this problem which will be investigated tomorrow. Also, I have read that a soft-ware upgrade can cure this problem and there is a modified throttle body available?
I have no information on what I should see on the 6 pin socket to the Throttle Body and would be grateful if someone could be good enough to supply this information in case further diagnostic work is required. I have discarded an APP problem for the moment as there are no relevant fault codes stored and wish to concentrate on the Throttle Body.
Many thanks
