Spot on Andy, thanks.
The old seal(Mann)submerged in oil so difficult to see. Fram filter had a hard plastic face without seal so again, not obvious.
Back to a Mann filter this time.
Take your point about OE not expensive, but also not available quickly here.
There is no conventional oil pressure warning light, instrument measured value says "oil pressure>=to system spec." with engine running.
