The customer didn't bring in the other sensor, because he said that he had thrown it away,so i ordered a new one.I rang our local Skoda dealer first to see if they listed two different sensors for this engine code,(which they did). They both showed the same type of connector, the one that didn't match my vin no (the one which was needed)was £55 +vat ,they didn't have one in stock ,had never sold one & would not be able to accept it back if it was wrong. My local factors gave me a price of £30 +vat + carriage, then ANDREW PAGE quoted £20 +vat+carriage & had one in stock (they also managed to get it ,measure it & give me a call back to confirm it was the correct one.I got it today & had to change the connector & as expected it is now starting ok.
Thanks for all your replies & thanks especially for the good service that i have got from Jim & Steve at Andrew Page, i highly recommend them.
    Regards , Andrew
