Hi Tom, The vehicle is fairly low mileage about 42,000, so I wouldn't have thought the bores were worn. I own a Rover 820 that suffers from sticky valves when it starts up every morning and it sounds very different to this one!I do think now that it's probably a mechanical fault, just can't find any information to prove it. I might drive it around for a while and see if it gets worse.
