Volkswagen Golf GTTDI 1.9 2002 150 ARL - Intermittent poor performance, high fuel consumption Archived Message

Hi all I am after some advise on this Golf , The customer has experienced intermittent poor performance and very high fuel consumption the car will run rough at times so he says . I have not got the car to fault in performance when road tested . I have checked the fault codes with my ACR4 and the code stored is 17965 CHARGE PRESSURE CONTROL INTERMITTENT DEVIATION POSITIVE . I have cleared the fault code but it came back with the same symptoms displayed a day or so later . I have looked over the car and the turbo seems harsh / noisy at certain rev ranges through the gears , I suspect a turbo issue on this one .Has anyone seen these symptoms before ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers
    Steve
