    Hi John

    Thanks for the reply

The thread was not nice to see on my return, but it happens, and will probably happen again, but that is the nature of our business, many at the top end and some lower down so personalities and abilities will sometimes clash. Many of the members in the thread are good contributors to UKAT and perhaps should have known better than to get wound up (but we are all human, and no real harm done). UKAT is not just for the scanner wielding elite, many members earn their living on the spanners, but still meet technically challenging problems so also deserve respect. Take Sean Savage's reply on the Nissan Micra timing chain, he took the time to come back and give a good description of a tricky mechanical repair.....excellent post.

If you are an Electrician, Plummer or Gas fitter you can do the courses that will bring you up to date and allow you to carryout installations and repairs on virtually all systems

The motor trade is so diverse in both vehicles and technology and involves dozens of different courses for petrol and diesel (let alone scanners and scopes), can anyone hold their hand up and say they have done them ALL and absorbed all the information, many like me are getting to old to store it all in those aging grey cells.

This is why we need UKAT, no one else is going to help unless you are very rich (to keep paying for courses and equipment) or have superior brain power to remember it all

All i can ask is that even if the vehicle is unfamiliar to you, that you post as many vehicle details as possible and carryout the most basic checks first

    Peter
PS: Then we need to bring our rates up to Plummers and Electricians
