I have come across the problem several times, Funnily enough, All on Vehicles that have just had the Headgasket done, ??

I usually find that it is sucking air from the large Engine breather pipe. ( drivers side of rocker cover ) And From Memory, I think that it goes directly to the inlet manifold.

If it is restricted, it slows the revs down, So We wondered if it was a restrictor or Gauze filter that was missing in the rocker cover, But it appears that they don't have anything in there. ??

Should this be a sealed breathing system and it gets opened to Atmosphere when the gasket is done, ? due to some wrong part fitted. ???

The Last one we saw, The customer didn't want to spend any more money on it, So we Almost blocked off the Breather pipe which slowed it down enough to make it driveable.

Someone must have sussed this problem out. ??

I have also had some caused by Interference from coils and leads etc.
