    Thanks for replies.
Had another go today, rechecked cam timing and gears on correctly, changed manifold coil and leads, no change. This is definately stepper actuation fault.I remove the stepper and set it to block the port, leave plug connector off and set idle to 950rpm rev up and alls okay, obviously i'll have no fast idle when cold, connect up and away go the revs up to 4000 rpm.Not wanting to give up on this i rechecked live data with AD. Crank sensor signal ok.crank status FAULT.crank sync ok. scoped sensor looked ok but decided to fit one stil same fault on live data.Doesnt show on dtcs.Rechecked wiring, found main earth connection from ecu at starter not connected, the wire although it looked to be connected was trapped under main earth cable, so removed and fitted new terminal.Live data now shows crank status ok. readapt still the same revs up.How many faults can this thing have? I wonder if this earth fault as knackerd the ecu.Any thoughts or do i modify the stepper, p reg car etc.
