Hi, Guys, Just goes to show everyday is a school day! I really thought Peugeot numbered from timing end of engine. Nigel (and everyone who has more of a mechanical history than electrical), inductance is the measure of a wound item i.e any electromagnet/solenoid/coil for it's magnetic characteristic rather than purely it's resistive one (forgive me purists, I'm trying not to get too technical). What probably happened to the coil in this injector is that due to vibration the windings have chafed together and rubbed through the insulating enamel shorting some turns together. The resistance only changed slightly (15%), but the effect magnetically was to create a transformer with it's output short circuited and the inductance was reduced to 1.2% of the original value. Imagine a nice big battery charger with the croc clips shorted together . An LCR meter measures Inductance (L), Capacitance (C), and Resistance (R). Here's a link:- http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/search/results.jsp?N=411&Ntk=gensearch_003&Ntt=lcr+meter&Ntx=&isGoback=false The Tenma one at £25 looks ok. Hope my ramblings have made some sense, it's quite hard to explain in words what a few sketches can do quite easily . Happy to keep posting on this topic as long it's helping. I've got about 30 years in industrial electronics rather than coming in from mechanicing. Perhaps this is more technical that petrol engine, moderator please move it over if you see fit. Shaun
