Hi Mike, Thank you for your reply. Your statement about the shorted turn puts the state of affairs very neatly and should help others to visualise what is happening. When I get a chance I will put some common items like crank sensors and ABS sensors on the LCR meter and post the results to give some sort of baseline for people to work to. What surprised me was just how big the inductance drop was, I was expecting a 50 or maybe 75% drop not a 99% drop. Just goes to show how much they "cost-engineer" modern ECU's with so little headroom in drive capability, when there's a fault they blow up before the drive protection circuitry gets a chance to trip out. But at least it helps you make a living . Shaun.
