    BMW 540i E39 4.4 L '99- No throttle control Archived Message

    Hi All,
    Hoping someone can help me with this.

    Engine starts and hunts very badly at idle, perhaps going up to 2krpm. The throttle doesn't move no matter where the pedal is!

    Fault codes;

    130 Throttle actuator control
    133 Throttle actuator spring test

    2 Aux. Air valve-far as I know this is
    irrelevant
    85 Secondary air valve- and so is this?

    A new throttle body has been fitted by the garage and the codes or fault haven't changed.

    I have downloaded (and paid for) 1.5GB of manuals/wiring diagram over last few days, with a broadband connection that keeps dropping out, so no mean feat in itself.

    I have no voltage spec. but measurements with a meter appear correct.

    I have a 5V supply and ground for position pots. and position info. looks good in live data.

    Had varying voltages on motor feeds (5.5 to 6.5V). Have seen in wiring diags. that should be duty cycle at 2000 Hz. I think that is what I was probably seeing on my meter, but will go back and scope if necessary.

    Any thought please, wonder if it's the control unit?! Had it connected to old body loose and believe will range valve part way if ignition on, after 30 seconds or so. No sign of this though!

    Regards,
    Nick Bell
