Hi Paul, I cannot see a way of confirming whether you have a coil problem without substituting known genuine spec coils , as you say , the symptoms sound favourite for coil faults. The crank sensor fault can occur if there is a corrupted signal. The ECU 'counts' the trigger wheel teeth from the gap in the pattern , if it miss-counts a tooth and sees it as another gap , the ECU needs up to 1 revolution of the engine to 're-synch' itself. This will cause a lurch similar to your description.
