Hi Andy, Others may disagree or give different advice but I will tell you what I would have done. Firstly I don't always slag aftermarket parts. There are many times when they are better than OE. The main issue here is that it has EOBD which is widely known to throw up P0420 with sub standard cats. I am not really sure what effect the fan will have on this vehicle but what I do know is that if the fan comes on during any diagnostic checks I normally wait till it has gone off before proceeding. You don't need the cat to be working efficiently to do any diagnostic work but you need to get to the bottom of why the pre cat O2S is switching slowly. Go back to basics and properly check the O2S operation, especially when the fan turns off(the O2S may not be reacting quick enough at the point of change in the engine load). The best way is with a scope but if you don't have one then perhaps one of the testers on the market may do the job. Sort out the problem there and then send back the cat and fit a genuine one. It sounds expensive but with a bit of luck you may get a credit for the cat and you can then tell the customer that it has to be a genuine one and explain why. You can tell them that you tried to save them money but it has not been successful and with luck they will understand. I hope that I am not teaching granny etc and there are many times when I have tried to save someone cash but it normally comes down to me doing something for nothing. HTH's, Bryan
