We have found several ME7.5 ECUs from VWs with internal memory errors. We have not found whether there is a partricular cause yet. Sometimes this just results in a fault code reading and does not affect the vehicle , but we have seen it where the immobiliser data has become corrupted. It may be worth accessing the immobiliser using your scan tool and see if it is reporting an error. This could possibly explain the non-start condition. Alternatively send the ECU for test.
