Charles, if this system is early motronic as fitted to bmw525e and 535 models in the early 80s they are inductive sensors so they should have nominally 1k resistance across the coil and open to the screen.check also they are connected to the right plugs.I have often stripped these ecus on bmw and porsche to find poor soldered joints on the ignition coil drive transistor where it is soldered to the pcb.Hth Phil
