BMW 320i E46 2.0 2005 - Code 29DD, judders on light throttle #

( Optional ) Scanner Used: modis
( Optional) Fault Codes: 29dd

HI GUYS

DON'T NO IF ANYONE CAN SHED ANY LIGHT ON THIS FAULT CODE 29DD (BAD WAY CONNECTION ) VEHICLE SOMETIMES JUDDERS ON LIGHT THROTTLE LIKE A MISFIRE ALSO SOMETIMES YOU LOSE THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THE TRIANGLE LIGHT COMES ON,IF YOU PRESS THE DTC BUTTON THE CAR PICKS UP AND DRIVES OK AGAIN, ITS SEEMS WORSE WHEN YOU'VE SAT IN TRAFFIC. IV CHECKED ALL CONNECTIONS TRIED DISCONNECTING AIR MASS SENSOR AND IT MADE NO IMPROVEMENT COILS AND PLUGS HAVE BEEN CHANGED BY ANOTHER GARAGE TRYING TO TRACK THE FAULT DOWN ON HARD THROTTLE THERE'S NO INDICATION THAT THE CAR HAS A FAULT . IV NEVER COME ACROSS THIS FAULT CODE BEFORE AND CANT FIND MUCH INFO ABOUT IT . HOPE SOME OF YOU GUYS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM

Hi Darryl,

Unless someone has had direct experience of this and due to lack of information posted, I think you might be stuffed on this one. Are there any EOBD protocol DTC's with Freeze Frame Data? Can you post such info as fuel trims, 4 gas emissions etc. Is there a story behind this?

May I suggest you post in the lower case as Caps tend to antagonise certain people.

not definitive but plausible to symptoms google came up with this info

Hi Darryl

I was not offended by you use of capitals in first post, but disappointed to see that you have used them in the reply !!!

Good English is not a strong point for most mechanics, but it is still not difficult to use upper & lower case letters as appropriate, basic paragraphs and run spell check.

I believe you have been a member of UKAT only for a couple of months. In that short time you have probably alienated yourself from receiving any further help from the respected techs that have responded and seen your post. Common courtesy costs nothing.

yes i thought someone would pick up on this for your information i was one of the first members of ukautotalk and back in the day there were some very good techs on there who were more intrested in diagnostics than computer text slander. ive had a two year gap in my membership and in response to your thread i left it because of silly child like tit for tat post like the replies on there now which have no relevants to my original question and has nothing to do with motor vehicle tech . people who want to add more ridicules comments are the ones who should not be members .THIS IS MY LAST POST ON THIS AS I DONT WANT TO BE TARNISHED WITH THE SAME BRUSH AS A VERY VERY SMALL HAND FULL OF MEMBERS

Darryl, I can ignore the caps and am sure plenty of others can too. The content of your post wasn’t rude so that goes some way to negate the caps however posting something legible and polite is a basic principle as well as being part of the posting guidelines. There is little point in lamenting the loss of the old UKAT if you are going to post in a manner that alienates the very people you want to help you.

If you look at the old archives and read some of the quality posts you refer to you will notice the people talked about details of tests and exact details of the cars. You did none of that. Basically you are asking for a silver bullet while suggesting you want tech help. Its ironic, that you mention that people don’t help anymore when your post is typical of the type that (I think) caused a lot of good guys to stop posting. Over the last few years UKAT has changed and help is not as freely available as it once was but if you read often you will notice that it is mostly the quality detailed questions that get the quality answers.

I wonder if your reaction, or overreaction as I see it, was due mainly to your past experience. If that is the case you may well have a valid point but your stance is nonetheless counter productive.

BTW, BMW didn’t make a 2ltr 320 E46 in 2005 so at a guess I think your car is an N series engine and if so your symptom and fault code is commonly caused by a bad crank sensor. Test the sensor or fire the silver bullet, either way HTH.

Hi All

Met Darryl at the Mechanex show today and he is a really nice guy, we had a long chat and it's clear from talking to him that he is passionate about his work

It was his first post and maybe it did not get of to the best of starts but I will give him credit for sticking with it and getting it fixed (I am sure he will post the fix)

Nice guy maybe, but the attitude displayed within this thread takes some understanding/explaining.

Respect has to be earned doesn't it?

I am not saying that "sucking up" is a requirement, but basic manners & an attempt to follow etiquette are a minimum surely?

Maybe I misunderstood something here, that was revealed in your face to face chat today?
