If you look at the old archives and read some of the quality posts you refer to you will notice the people talked about details of tests and exact details of the cars. You did none of that. Basically you are asking for a silver bullet while suggesting you want tech help. Its ironic, that you mention that people don’t help anymore when your post is typical of the type that (I think) caused a lot of good guys to stop posting. Over the last few years UKAT has changed and help is not as freely available as it once was but if you read often you will notice that it is mostly the quality detailed questions that get the quality answers.
I wonder if your reaction, or overreaction as I see it, was due mainly to your past experience. If that is the case you may well have a valid point but your stance is nonetheless counter productive.
BTW, BMW didn’t make a 2ltr 320 E46 in 2005 so at a guess I think your car is an N series engine and if so your symptom and fault code is commonly caused by a bad crank sensor. Test the sensor or fire the silver bullet, either way HTH.
