Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Z16 XE 2005 - Will not rev above 3000 rpm - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 1.6 Z16XE
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autocom and Maxisys
( Optional) Fault Codes: none

The vehicle from cold starts fine and runs fine, it gets a little warmer and then will not rev above 3000 and is harder to start. Check for fault codes even though there wasn't a light on using autocom as it didn't show a fault check with maxisys and that didn't either. Any ideas?

Hi

You dont give much background info of the vehicle fault / test result so far. or for that matter on your own experience so it is difficult for members to know where to pitch replies.

I don't know the answer to your fault but,'No fault codes' can be as much a clue as some fault codes are.

No fault codes would suggest it is not a electrical circuit fault or a component that is closely monitored. So have a look at the system in front of you with that in mind and then monitor relevant live data to look for data that is out of the normal.

You may also need to physically measure areas of concern eg fuel pressure, manifold & exhaust pressures etc.

Thanks for the assistance and sorry for the poor information. At the time that was all we had and wasn't sure where to start. We checked fuel pressure as suggested which was correct and before we could check anything else the MIL came on showing a crankshaft sensor fault. Replaced the sensor and all is good.
Not sure how to show this is fixed first time I've posted and rectified.
