Sadly, Canada is a real mess. The Trudeau gov’t is all in on supporting Ukraine with no talk about diplomacy or compromise. All Canadian gov’ts for decades have unequivocally supported Israel.

Ironically, Trudeau Sr declared in the 70s that Canada would be a haven from militarism and he invited US draft dodgers to come and live here (which turned out to be very beneficial for the country since many who came were intelligent, enterprising people).

The public medical system is a mess. With many fewer doctors and nurses than what is needed, increasingly the only way to access the system is to go and sit in the emergency room for hours. Wait times for tests and surgeries are very long. Canada is raiding other countries for their medical personnel, which is unethical imo.

There is a massive housing shortage and rents have escalated wildly in the last few years, as has the cost of food.

The vaccine mandates that began in 2020 opened Pandora’s box by rending the social fabric and giving rise to groups that hate the gov’t. The ‘Freedom Convoy’ created a huge encampment of cars, pickups and semi trucks in the downtown of Canada’s capital city for a month, with huge unsecured stockpiles of fuel in jerry cans. People are driving around with F**k Trudeau flags and decals on their vehicles, or on their houses. It seems to me that they’re ready to tear it all down but i dread to see what kind of representation they would provide.

The party most likely to take over is conservative, associated with the International Democrat Union (IDU), and includes & represents many who want to make abortion illegal, prevent acknowledgement of anything except traditional families in school curricula, do away with the newly emerging public daycare system, get rid of the national broadcaster, etc. IMO they are nasty and small minded but I fear that they will form the next federal gov’t.
