I suppose this is what happens when a State is permanently hijacked by an elite establishment: it is rightly seen as one and the same thing and people are unable to discern there was ever a difference.

Blamed as the source of all wrongs the very idea of the State becomes discredited leading in turn to a further rise in right-libertarianism: which in no small way contributed to the original mess in the first place.
