Well it's not really a "one or the other" issue.
All the money and effort that goes into US political placements through AIPAC, billionaire dual passport holders and the Israeli lobby et al produces serious results: there's really no doubt about that.
Yet US standing in the world is taking a serious hit precisely because Israel is in the middle east policy driving seat...and the US of course are seen to back that policy.
It's hard to see for how much longer though. How much world opprobrium can the US take without its reputation being thoroughly destroyed ? The present state of affairs is guaranteed to make even the most compliant government think twice about the suitability of the US to fulfil its ambition to be world unipolar superpower.
-It's damaging US status and thus also US interests but it's difficult to call a stop to it when so much Israeli money is tied directly to the electoral campaigns of so many representives.
