The general feeling is of approval towards closing the inheritance tax loophole to stop farms being used as a tax dodging racket and the price of land subsequently going through the roof, making it impossible for new entrants or smaller operations. Cautious agreement with the 'No Farmers, No Food' protestors where the argument is that small-middle scale farmers might go out of business because of the changes being implemented insensitively (some in favour of raising the threshold to £3M, for example), but scared off by the association of the movement with right wing figures and climate change deniers. Also, for those on the small-scale end or tenant farmers there's no point of engagement because we either don't own land anyway, or have businesses too small to be affected - it would be 'a nice problem to have'. The more salient approach would be to address the low price of food, the monopoly of supermarkets and the lack of government protection of this key sector which is struggling with basic viability across the board.
