Agree with much of that. Probably too much to expect much in the way of joined-up thinking from the government. Enforcing much higher thermal efficiency of new homes too, together with renewables installed where appropriate and feeding this electricity back into the grid, reducing centralised demand. The technology is there, and if supplied at scale would bring costs down. I'm lucky enough to live somewhere that shares a biomass heating system that uses locally-sourced woodchip. We also have a wood-burning stove (again locally-sourced wood), though I'm aware of growing disapproval from certain quarters in using such stoves.
