Yes, I agree with all you say. It is so sad, and annoying, that there are so many missed opportunities and such meanness of spirit emanating from “our leaders”. Good on you for your “one-man” ecologically-minded efforts over the years. The developers would have us believe there was an inexhaustible supply of executives out there. We have clutches of shoddy, new-build “abominations” in our own nearby town, with another 850 to come, and plans for an unspecified number of “affordable” (meaningless term) homes and social housing – which tend to be cramped post- Parker-Morris standard (axed by, Thatcher I was reminded of the other day) dwellings – or “properties,” as all housing must be referred to these days. Well, we could see the further disintegration of governments over the next few years, and more people will begin to realise they do not represent the needs and interests of ordinary people, and maybe we could actually do a better job ourselves in organising our own lives - from the bottom-up, rather than top-down.
