I'm not a follower of his work, but he doesn't appear to be saying that in that interview. Encouraging people to take responsibility for their lives isn't saying that the strong should be raised up and the weak left to rot. There's precious little that factory workers can do to stop global forces like offshoring. It's a fact of life that the world turns. So wouldn't what Peterson is espousing be more like saying disenfranchised factory workers would do better taking charge of what they can control and creating bottom up solutions rather than sitting on the shore telling the tide to stop coming in?
