but the video going with the final assault on Baghouz has twice shown just one man with a rifle on a hill top firing towards a group of buildings in the distance. I'm sure the Syrian army could provide some footage... In the early days we were often shown bands of fighters with guns and rocket launchers, or 4WDs in action, but nowadays they are only wearing white helmets and rushing around in a fog carrying babies. This morning talking of Baghouz I heard there were a few hundred fighters left, but that surrendering men had said there were thousands of them! Or someone said that surrendering men had said this. It's sad for the 700 prisoners who were executed in Hajin, in the last days of IS back in October. How do we know that this lot in their tunnels don't still have hostages? But the battle will end at a time of the US' convenience. |
